
An exciting tour of Kongunadu led by veterans renowned historian Dr. Venkatraman and Dr.Vedachalam, Retd. Senior Epigraphist of Tamil Nadu Archaeology Dept. held the heritage enthusiasts in thrall. Kolli Hills was the highlight of the tour. The area has megalithic sites, Sangam age remnants and several medieval period statues and temples. Under the rule of Valvil Ori, Kollimalai flourished.FoHS trip covered Kodumanal, Kodumudi, Pugalur and Karur on the first day of the tour. Spending the next two days at Kolli Malai, the second day we toured the Kolli Hills visiting the Arapalli Eswarar temple and a Jaina centre. The resident Goddess Ettukaiamman temple and other prehistoric burial site, seeping in the natural wonders that was abound. The third day visit ended in Nammakkal wherewe visited the fort and two cave temples dedicated to Pallikonda Perumal and Narasimha Perumal. The famous Hanuman temple adjacent with a gigantic figure of Hanuman was also a sight to see.
