Visit To Solavandhan and Keezhadi Site

A day trip to temples in Madurai District and Keezhadi excavation site. The trip entailed a study of the architectural nuances in the Tirvuvedagam and Thenkarai temples in Madurai district with the renowned historian Dr. Venkatraman. Later that noon a visit culminating at the ASI excavation site at Keezhadi on the outskirts of Madurai in Sivagangai district, gave the visitors a rare insight into the Roman trade links with the ancient Pandya dynasty. This is considered to be one of the largest sites still being excavated in S. India.
